Free hosting for Entropia Universe websites

Once again, the time has come. For the last 2 years we were offering free Entropia Universe related website hosting. As almost all of our employees enjoy playing EU, we decided to offer this free service as a contribution to the community. The only restriction is that the site MUST be Entropia-related. We do not have any bandwidth restrictions and currently we can offer up to 4 GB of disk space (you might get more if your project seems interesting to us and you actually need more space).

To apply for this hosting package, please write to info@spider-hosting.net and we'll send you a promotional code which you can use to sign up for this offer.

Referrals and the new Gold system

Today we introduced our referral and so called Gold system. Basically the idea is to get more users to this website and our services. A little insight - you register on this website, get a referral link and use it to promote this website. For every new user who signs up on this website (No service purchase needed!) you get 1000 gold. When you refer 10 people and have 10,000 gold in your account, you get 2 months free hosting (Standard plan). It's that simple!

 New billing system

We are now using new billing system which, as we think, will be more user-friendly than the old one.

To celebrate this, new hosting clients get 10% off their orders when they enter promotional code 'INTRO' when purchasing our services.

Can someone track your IP address?

Simple answer - yes.
A complicated one - Even if you're hidden behind lots of proxy servers - yes, but with a lot of difficulties.

When you connect to the Internet, you are assigned an IP (Internet Protocol) address, which is a unique combination of numbers (for IPv4 addresses) or numbers and letters (IPv6 addresses; rarely used). These addresses are assigned to you by the company that provides Internet access. In many countries static IP addresses are used, which means that a computer will have a stable address which will not change from time to time, like it happens with dynamic IP addresses (Assigned by a DHCP server). Having a static address is a must if you intend to host some kind of Internet server, but not required if you are just a home user.

 New look

As you may have noticed, we've changed the look of our website.

Also we'd like to note that we will be posting many IT related news here, as we used to do on the official Spider IT website before it was closed.

Eleven tips to hackproof your wireless network

Wireless, especially the extremely popular 802.11b protocol that operates at 11 Mbps and is nearly as cheap as standard Ethernet adapters and hubs, has taken root in the corporate world and grown like a weed. 802.11b came with much touted built-in encryption scheme called Wired-Equivalent Privacy (WEP) that promised to allow secure networking - secure as it was a wired network. It sounded great.
